Brownie My New Brown Boots

Day 1 part 3
of my Hong Kong trip with Zhuzhu

Date: 04/12/2009
Venue: Jardine's Crescent Market
Location: Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Island
Direction: Causeway Bay Station (Exit F)
Target: Boots

First of all, I will like to apologize to Brownie my new brown boots that I bought in Hong Kong to replace the damaged one I was wearing, which I failed to mention in my previous post. In fact, I bought it just before eating milk pudding at Jardine's Crescent, a roadside market clustered with tiny stalls selling inexpensive clothing, accessories and domestics goods. Thanks to my flat Brownie, walking around metropolitan Hong Kong in style and comfort is a breeze! Plus, it has no metal buckle, unlike the torn boots (Check out this trendy Bronze leather boots by Steve Madden!) which I had to remove in front of the public in order to pass the security checkpoint! So next time you depart at Changi Airport (I'm not sure about other countries) remember don't wear anything with metal!

Yee Shun Dairy Co.

Day 1 part 2
of my Hong Kong trip with Zhuzhu

Date: Dec 04 2009
Day: Friday, Afternoon
Venue: Yee Shun Dairy Dessert Shop
Location: 506 Lockhart Rd, Causeway Bay
Direction: Causeway Bay station, Exit C

The first thing we did almost right after reaching Hong Kong, besides checking into the hotel, was to find Zhuzhu's highly acclaimed Steamed Milk Pudding or Dun Nai (in Mandarin). The dessert shop is known as Yee Shun Dairy Co. with a few outlets in both Hong Kong and Macau. We went to the one at Causeway Bay. It's a small and busy shop with high table turnover. Service is gunslinger-quick. Tea, which we didn't order, was served swiftly after we sat down, a reflection of Yum cha ('drinking tea') as an integral part of Hong Kong's culinary culture. Back to the star of the menu, one can choose from flavors like coffee, ginger, almond and red bean to be served hot or chilled. I ordered double-steamed milk pudding which is their signature dish, while Zhuzhu ordered ginger steamed milk pudding for a change. Review: I love the rich milky aroma. I bet the milk used in the recipe is different from those we can buy off the shelves. And woah! It melts in the mouth. Smooth! And the extra skin on top (caused by the 'double-steaming effect) adds just the right finishing touch to this perfection. I definitely recommend this and not the latter. The ginger taste is too strong for us, kindoff cover the original taste. But if you like ginger, you'll love this. :)

Flying on A380!

Day 1 part 1
of my Hong Kong trip with ZhuZhu

Date: Dec 04 2009
Day: Friday, Morning
Time: 09:40

Venue: T3, Gate 23

Airline: SIA

Vehicle: A380

I'm flying on airbus to Hong Kong! Vroom~~
Spacious, new, absolutely awesome brilliant screen with up-to-date movies, tv shows and games. Excitedly I browsed for my most anticipated Nintendo game Super Mario, but guess what! It's not available on this plane. Huh... why not? It's a classic! Even Zuma is available. What a pooper... So as I was surfing around aimlessly, I found this language learning channel offered by Berlitz International. How thoughtful! I was thinking, it could be useful to revise some simple Cantonese phrases before I reach Hong Kong. So besides Cantonese, I also picked up some basics of Japanese and Korean languages to last me for the rest of the flight. It's definitely a fruitful ride for me on A380. Not to mention, Berlitz's on-air publicity definitely did the trick!

Ps: whichever country you're visiting, do learn some basics of their language so you can speak with the locals, appreciate and blend into their culture and people! Departing soon? Learn to speak languages Quickly with Rocket Languages!
